Poshan Panchayat

While use of the term “Panchayats” typically signifies the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), in the context of “Poshan Panchayats”, the definition is broadened to signify a collective of diverse stakeholders organized for an action-oriented community dialogue on Poshan.

Thus, Poshan Panchayat is proposed to act as a community based social audit platform to promote uptake of Poshan 2.0 guideline within and outside government, generate public awareness about nutrition seeking behaviours, improve accountability of basic nutrition services at Anganwadi centers, promote inter-sectoral convergence of service delivery at the household level and transforming Jan Andolan (Community Mobilization) into Jan Bhagidari (Community Ownership) for achieving a Kuposhan Mukta Bharat (Malnutrition Free India).
